Life Imitating Art or Art Imitating Life?

A short story.....

"The Sentinel”
Meryl and Bernie are a lovely couple who came to visit me again this past weekend.
They greeted me with “We’ve been waiting all year to come back and look at your lovely art”.

I left them to wander finding them later, waiting for me, perched together on my piano stool. I apologised for the lack of seating in the Studio but soon realised there was a reason they were perched there.

They announced “We would like to buy a painting”.

Their humour had not been lost on me.

There they were sitting in front of “The Sentinel”. Bernie was “on guard” and Meryl was “sitting on their nest” (both protecting the painting they didn’t want anyone else to see!)

Meryl said “You’ll miss this one when it goes” and my response was “I will but I couldn’t be happier to know that it is going to the perfect home where you will love it as much as I do”
Meryl responded, “Now they will be able to see each other from the next room” referring to the two egret prints that they had purchased at last year’s Studio Open Days.

I hope you took the time to imagine what I saw and why it meant so much to me as they imitated my art!
Thank you so very much Meryl and Bernie.
