Great adventure for the Mother's Day weekend

Picture
Mothers Day Weekend
13 and 14 May 10am - 4pm

The fifth annual Dryandra Art, Food and Wine self-drive trail will provide families and individuals with a wonderful way to celebrate Mother's Day 2017.
As a result of my latest exhibition in Corrigin WA "Celbrating Qualering" which celebrated the Guinness  farm and the 30 years of my yearly visits I have been invited to join in the Wickepin leg of the Dryandra art, food and wine trail for 2017.
I will be exhibiting in the Wickepin Town Hall where I will also be artist in residence for both Sat and Sun between 10 and 4.
So if you enjoy a drive in the country and also have a taste for country food and wine come and join in the trail.

"Celebrating Qualering"

“Celebrating Qualering” will be a celebration remembered by family and friends of Tony & Maria Guinness in years to come.
The Shearing Shed was transformed into a gallery space to rival any art event with all its vintage character and intricate spaces. You were greeted by the “Emu by the Back Gate” (mallee wood sculpture) and “Rusty” the dog ( Metal sculpture) before entering the Gallery.
Visitors peered through doorways and across sheep pens to view some of the art. The wool press was even a valued space to feature Rachael Guinness’s Fine Art Photography, mounted inside.
The Guinness family were represented by daughter Rachael Guinness with photography from her recent visit to South Africa, cousin Linda Guinness with her art and sculptures, aunt Pat Guinness with her beautiful oil and watercolour paintings.
As the featured artist I had my art, weathered wood sculptures and nature photography on display.
I dedicated a section to artworks that celebrated Qualering farm. The shearing shed, shearers, farm dogs, gardens, fence posts, even Tony with his sheep. All had a story to be told. A photobook recording the Scidone Family visits over the past 30 years was also on show.
The wood  sculptures were all from material collected around Qualering farm.
As a prelude to the exhibition Maria hosted an art workshop with 5 of her friends on the farm.
Worth mentioning was Tony’s contribution to the overall aesthetics and culture with his version of,  The “Haystacks” 2017, as he built the chorale around the bonfire.
If you would like to “Celebrate Your Farm” take a look at the potential by viewing the gallery below.
Check this link to the paintings that were inspired by the farm

Art displayed on old wool press
Wool classing table covered in wool bales and topped with 1.7m Jarrah cheese boards
Farm inspired art with old wool scales in the corner
peer thru the doorway to another gallery space
More art deep within the sheep penning area
Wool classing partitions draped in fabric for more hanging space
Even the "Flutterby Series" looked great against the corrugated iron backdrop
These pieces were already part of the Guinness family collection. "Wood & Wire" and "Family Portrait"
"Swamp hen and her Chick" one of the 7 wood sculptures from the Natures Balance series all made from wood sourced on the farm
Spilling out from the shearing shed for drinks around the bonfire
"Emu by the Back Gate" mallee wood sculpture and "Rusty" the dog metal sculpture all sourced from materials on the farm
Farmyard car park
"Haystacks" 2017 by Tony Guinness. Tony's contribution to the aesthetics and culture of the exhibition
The old overhead shearing shaft that is soon to be replace by a more modern version
Shearing shed on dusk. The party is already well underway
Everyone enjoyed the Photobook that recorded our family visits over the last 30yrs
