Last sleep before my studio is open to the public as part of the inaugural Canning Art Studio Trail. This year I have a theme "To the Beach and Back".   It has conjured up a great variety of creative pieces, not only paintings but shell sculptures, seaweed art and photography with some fascinating facts about our lovely sea creatures that you may not already know.
There are Australian Sealions, Octopus, Seahorses, Seadragons, Stingrays, Skates, Turtles,Penguins, Birds and Shells Galore.

Come to the Studio this weekend to take a closer look at "Reef Nursery" and see if you can spot all the sea creatures that are hiding in the coral. ​The slideshow below gives an insight into the developing  'Reef Nursery" painting from the random initial wash to the discovery of the world held within waiting to be discovered.
I think it's the star of the show but it has some good company that you can view on the previous blog post . Better still visit the Studio this weekend and follow the art trail.

This year I have taken an unpaid sabbatical to travel and refocus my thoughts and energy, working towards some "Themed" exhibitions and children's books that I look forward to sharing with you soon.

Saying that, I have made the decision to not open the studio for 2024.

I may reschedule the Open Studio event to a different month or time for the coming year.
 
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody for their support over the past 10 years of this event.

My visit to Nalbarra Station in 2015 has inspired many of my artworks in the past seven years and it deserves to be highlighted as a must visit destination in outback Western Australia.
 
In the wildflower season it comes alive.
  
You turn left at the letterbox 60km south of Mt Magnet. 
 
You are greeted by Emus and their chicks on the long driveway in to the Homestead and shearers quarters where you can stay and even book in a meal and wake up to the mass paddocks of pink Calandrinia that greet the morning sun.

​I started out painting a piece I titled “Afternoon Delight” then I painted a piece titled “Branching Out” then the next one was called “Chocolate Lake”…
 
All of a sudden I had set myself a challenge for this years’ Open Studio… so I went to work on the other 23 pieces to bring it all together.

October is also such a beautiful time to head up into the hills of Perth to Mundaring and I couldn't resist the opportunity to display more of my artwork with the members of The Mundaring Weir Gallery.There is  such an amazing collection of Artisans showcasing their work. I am delighted at the opportunity to exhibit in the Gallery with them again for the month of October"
