ARTIST STATEMENT
An award winning artist, Debra continues to expand her vision and use of a range of artistic mediums.
The “New Beginnings” series takes her from the unknown to the unexpected.
The process creates opportunities, allowing a new sense of freedom to be extravagant. Expanding and developing a new way of expression.
The process leaves a little more intrigue, there is always more to the paintings than first meets the eye. “Angels in the architecture, the devil’s in the detail”. Leaving space and light, yet intimate detail hidden to find later.
Each painting’s story begins as simple washes and the subject emerges almost on its own, letting the paint decide the subject and her knowledge and experience over time to determine the outcome.
In 2016 Debra exhibited in Beijing and Nantoong Universities. "From Australia to Beijing", The International Watercolour Exchange Exhibition. Tsinghua University Beijing and "Australian Culture Art Exhibition", Nantoong University, China
Her passion for interpreting the world around us has given her art a unique personal quality that allows everyone to find something of their own interpretation in her art.
