ARTIST STATEMENT
A Western Australian award winning professional artist, Debra Scidone continues to expand her vision and use of a broad range of artistic medias.
Her passion for interpreting the world around us has given her art a unique personal quality that allows everyone to find something of their own interpretation in her art.
Debra creates subtle, thought provoking statement pieces and fascinating conversation starters.
Debra's art practice creates opportunities, giving her a sense of freedom, allowing her to expand and develop new ways of expression. Using her knowledge and experience to determine the technique and media to best portray each subject as well as willingly accepting the challenges that chance plays in the development of her artworks. They are fresh and light, yet hold intimate detail and hidden meaning for her viewing audience.
Debra delights in sharing her knowledge and playing her part in educating and entertaining her community by holding her annual Open Art & Garden Studio Days, open to the public each November.
Debra also has a long association with the Melville Community Art Association Youth Art Awards participating with the hanging and curating with Colleen Rintoul and judging alongside Gillian Peebles.
Debra presents gallery floor talks, facilitates community art workshops and exhibition co-coordination.
